On this page, I have chosen to spotlight BCPS One, a platform used throughout Baltimore County.
BCPS One is one cohesive platform where teachers, students, and parents can interact via the internet. BCPS One is a live grade book, where both students and parents, can view grades immediately after they are posted by the teacher. There are many other useful tools incorporated in BCPS One as well. Students have access to many other databases such as BrainPop, Dreambox, and Tumble Books, as well as several other websites, without having to login to each separate website.
One feature I use almost every day in my classroom is the lesson tiles. Lesson tiles serve as a way for me to push out lessons to my students. I can share documents, websites, videos, flipcharts, and anything else you can think of that is accessible online. The use of lesson tiles have become a very significant role in my teaching, especially since all of my students have their own tablet. Using lesson tiles allows me to easily differentiate for my students. I can pick and choose which items I want to share with what students. Students are also able to complete an assessment through BCPS One and send it to me easily for grading. Once an assessment is graded through BCPS One, I am able to simply import the data directly into my live grade book. This database has made my life as a teacher a lot easier this year.
