On this page I have chosen to spotlight my third grade back-to-school newsletter created through Microsoft Word.
When creating this newsletter, I utilized just a few of the many tools Microsoft Word has to offer. I especially focused on the use of text boxes, columns, inserting pictures/ clipart, and creating just enough, but not too much contrast between the size, shape, and color of the text. I made sure to save the Word document as a PDF file so that the columns and text boxes would not move around when opened up on different computers or through an email.
I utilized this newsletter in my classroom this year as a way to communicate to parents some important information. The newsletter informed parents of the behavior expectations in third grade and also explained to them how I would be communicating with them if there were ever to be a problem. It also included information regarding supplies, transportation, the cost of lunch, and our special area schedule. Newsletters are a great way to stay in touch with parents throughout the year and to let them know what is going on in the classroom.
